Harding University commencement exercises to be held July 31

SEARCY, Ark. — More than 200 graduates will receive diplomas at
Harding University commencement exercises Saturday, July 31, at 10
a.m. in Rhodes Memorial Field House.

Graduates include students from the College of Arts and Humanities,
College of Bible and Religion, Paul R. Carter College of Business
Administration, College of Communication, Cannon-Clary College of
Education, College of Sciences and the Honors College.

Featured commencement speaker is Garry Neal, preaching minister for
Levy Church of Christ.

Neal grew up in White County and has preached for churches in Kansas
and Arkansas. He has served the congregation in Levy for 24 years and
was a volunteer chaplain for 12 years with the Arkansas Department of
Correction. He established River City Ministry, an inner-city outreach
ministry in North Little Rock, and is former president of the
organization’s board of directors. He has also served on the board for
the Institute Biblical Studies ALPHA & OMEGA.

Neal has gone through numerous disaster training programs and has led
relief teams in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota and
Mississippi. He graduated from Harding in 1973 with degrees in Bible
and social science and also attended Arkansas State University.

He received the Harding University Distinguished Christian Service
Award in 2006. Neal and his wife, Marilyn (Cooper) Neal, have three
children, all Harding alumni.
