Harding University, city of Searcy plan July 4 activities
SEARCY, Ark.⎯ The city of Searcy will join with Harding Universityonce again to celebrate our nation’s birthday with fireworks and
festivities on Saturday, July 4.
The day will kick off with a bicycle parade for children under 12 on
the courthouse square in downtown Searcy. Registration is at 9 a.m.,
and the parade begins at 9:30.
Evening activities will begin at 7 p.m. on Harding’s campus. Aramark
will sell concessions and serve free Yarnell’s ice cream at First
Security Stadium. A carnival for children ages 3-10 will be held on
the Ganus Athletic Center lawn from 7-9 p.m. New to the carnival this
year will be pony rides for $3 and a free petting zoo. All children
will receive five complimentary carnival tickets. Additional tickets
can be purchased for 25 cents each.
Fireworks by Air Magic of Batesville, Ark., will begin at 9:30 p.m., and
KVHU will provide patriotic musical accompaniment. The best view of
the show will be from behind First Security Stadium’s home stands.
During the fireworks, Intramural Drive from the baseball field to the
soccer fields will be closed.
